Landlord Law

2.2.5 Agreeing the scope of work

2.2 For agents only: accepting instructions from a landlord
2.2.5 Agreeing the scope of work
The agent should agree the scope of work and then issue terms of engagement, which should detail the duties the landlord expects the agent to perform.

This is quite crucial.  There are often disagreements, for example if the agent grants the tenants a new fixed term, where the landlord was unaware that the agent was going to do this and did not want the tenant to be granted a further term.

There can also be problems where the agent is making a charge for a service which the landlord feels he did not authorise or require.
